Opus Design workshop

Working with designers is an integral part of any marketing and advancement operation, but it isn’t always easy to communicate your vision and needs. Walk away from this workshop with actionable techniques to better communicate with your designers using basic design vocabulary, processes, and principles. You will get to practice your new found tools and explore a case study where we collaborated with MassArt on a design project using these methods from start to finish.

Format

The workshop is 1 hour long and we can deliver it on-site, in our studio, or as a webinar. Often the workshop is used as a lunch-and-learn session for marketing teams. We can customize the session for your needs. Examples of use cases:

  • MIT: Marketing professionals in the School of Engineering attended the workshop as a lunch-and-learn session to learn a process for working with their designers efficiently and effectively.
  • Emerson College: Workshop is used in the entrepreneurship class to provide students with basic design skills to develop marketing materials for their companies on their own. The workshop is customized with an add-on: speed critiquing. 5-minute critique of every students’ company logo using the tools learned during the workshop.
  • Bose: The marketing and curriculum design team used the workshop as a lunch-and-learn session to improve the conversations and processes with their designers to create “good design”.

Julia and her colleagues at Opus Design have figured out how to demystify design by providing a handful of practical tools that promotes the kind of thinking and action needed across teams responsible for developing content of all kinds. In their workshop, teams with little to no background in design, leave with a common language and process. Simply put, they turn “good design” into something we can all get our arms around.
