MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Website

The MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing was created to address the opportunities and challenges of the computing age — from hardware to software to algorithms to artificial intelligence. Our team was thrilled to create the website design for the new college including UX, design, development, and website accessibility.

Planning on future expansion

The new college is comprised of existing units at MIT that have a focus on computing. It is also creating new programs and activities to fill any existing gaps. One of the website goals was to make it very easy for users to learn about the different programs and initiatives around computing that MIT is offering through this new college. The cross-cutting page on the website is an example of how this information is communicated.

Another goal was to ensure that the website was easily expandable as the college grew. We integrated that knowledge into our process by looking forward and creating an architecture and design that was flexible enough to allow for future expansion. One of the solutions was to build custom designed content blocks that give the client flexibility and control to update and customize their content as their needs are changing, without sacrificing design.

Our design team created the website design for the new college in line with the established brand guidelines the Schwarzman team shared. Bold colors, visual layering, subtle animation on user interactions, and a high contrast design create an engaging and dynamic look and feel.
