One Summit Look & Feel

The client:

One Summit is a nonprofit with a mission to help childhood cancer patients build courage, confidence and resilience through experiential learning and mentorship with a U.S. Navy SEAL.  It was Founded by US Navy SEAL, Adam La Reau in 2013.

The project:

Opus Design was asked to design their Annual Report.  This report included a report, folder and handouts.  Opus Design of Boston designed their website earlier this year, giving them a new look and feel.  This project gave us the chance to establish their look and feel in print.

Design challenge and approach:

The annual report is full of One Summit’s accomplishments, testimonials and feature stories about how children’s lives have been affected through the program.  While continuing the style from the website, Sr Graphic Design and Graphic Illustrator, Casey McGee took her inspiration from the SEALs and their amazing work with these children.  She gave the report a strong, gritty feel while also warm and compassion, the same look and feel as the website.  You can see this in her infographics, font type and design style.

What really gave this project the look Casey was going for beyond the design is the type of paper.  Paying attention to this detail is key in making this project successful.  Casey chose Sundance Felt Weave Paper and had Mingo Press do the printing.  We have worked with Mingo Press on many projects, and they were really helpful on this project.  They were able to send us a proof, that confirmed this was the right paper for the tough, gritty look we are establishing with One Summit.   While many clients have their own printers, working with a design company that has go to printers can really make a difference.  One Summit loved the way this report turned out.
