Location: Boston, Massachusetts. We support a flexible-location work model. You may choose to work from our studio in Boston, remotely, or a hybrid that is best for you. We only require in-person attendance at our studio 5-6 times per year for 2-3 days at a time. These sessions, which are all scheduled well in advance, keep us all connected by combining working sessions, group discussions, and fun activities.

Position Summary

A successful candidate for the Designer position at Opus will be passionate about communication design and be able to work comfortably across varied print and digital mediums. While extensive coaching and development opportunities will be made available to support continuous growth, the candidate is expected to independently achieve resolved design from the outset. The candidate should be at ease with finding clarity amidst ambiguity and working in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment. The candidate should be a strong communicator and collaborator who is excited about further advancing our team culture and serving as a strong representative of our agency with each of our inspiring clients.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Create resolved design for a wide range of print and digital mediums
  • Establish effective and user optimized print and digital compositions
  • Collaborate with art director and creative director to determine design directions
  • Ensure consistency and quality with obsessive attention to detail
  • Participate in client presentations and lead specific facilitations or design reviews
  • Manage an efficient workflow to ensure timely and complete delivery of all commitments
  • Proactively identify opportunities for elevating client outcomes
  • Methodically and carefully review printer proofs
  • Successfully juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Understand and address client feedback effectively to avoid unnecessary rounds of revisions
  • Provide constructive and actionable feedback to other designers to help advance their work
  • Stay aware of industry trends, relevant developments, and tools for the design craft
  • Provide exceptional service to all clients at every stage of every project

Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of front-end interactive technologies, including HTML, CSS, CMS systems, and iOS
  • Demonstrated understanding and abilities in typography, layout, and color
  • Experience creating visual brand identities
  • Designed compelling and effective print and digital pieces
  • Self-starter and comfortable working independently as well as in teams, ability to successfully address constructive feedback
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Active and curious listener; able to construct thoughtful questions
