Primary Care Progress (PCP) is a new client for us. They were established in 2010 as a national organization with the goal to build a stronger primary care system. Primary Care Progress came to Opus Design and asked us to design their annual report. In addition, we created this report design using ISSUU, a digital publishing platform
Designing the report
Working with and getting to know a new client is always very exciting and rewarding. We enjoy learning about a new organization, getting to know new clients and developing new design material for them. Report design is a great way to start a new relationship.
In this project, one of the challenges we faced was related to pulling design elements from the basic style guide. As a fairly new company, PCP did not actually have a lot of established design elements. To solve this, Sr Designer Emily Knapp used the telescope, their logo, to lead her direction when designing the report. You will notice the circle from the telescope infographic is carried over into the report with circles in the layout and the folio.
Another interesting component of this annual report is the photos that Primary Care Progress gave us. The photos gave this report that is light in text depth and vibrancy. It is not often that we have such great photos given to us, what a treat.
In addition to the great imagery, we were also able to introduce the client to Issuu. Issuu is a digital publishing format and a fantastic way to share a document online. It is free, easy to use, and automatically creates the page turning effect in the interface. All you need is a pdf.
Emily gave the report a refined, contemporary, put together feel by pulling in a secondary color and balancing the text to photos. PCP were pleased with the final report and addition to their design.
