German International School Boston (GISB) is a bilingual independent school serving students from age 3 to Grade 12. Our team was hired for the logo design for the independent school.

Our goal for the logo redesign for the indepent school was to have a more contemporary look and appeal to families with younger children. Usability issues with the previous logo — such as scaling the logo to small sizes — also had to be addressed.
We created a variety of logo design options ranging from full redesigns and new concepts to visually updating the concept of the existing logo. The options were reviewed by the GISB team and a representation from the audience group — the parents. We identified that the brand equity of the existing mark was important to keep and decided on the direction of the refreshed logo options, rather than the new concepts. The final logo and it’s typographical details was decided in a working session with the board.
