Icons for website design
Icon design for the 10 areas of research in the MIT Biology department was a part of the website redesign project. The unique style is created by the consistent use of pink and teal, the white background circles, as well as the use of a consistent line weight. While some icons were easier to conceptualize such as Neurobiology, others were very difficult such as Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology. Our art director Casey worked with the team to make sure the biology research icons represented the science accurately.
The biology research icons were used in many places in the website design including the research area pages, news, profiles, and the directory.
We were impressed by the process and the tools that kept the project moving forward to a timely completion for our website redesign. The Opus team worked with us through all of the occasional bumps that come along with complicated projects. They truly felt like partners rather than vendors.
