WestCoast Fresh at Viva Fresh Trade Show

The client

WestCoast Fresh, a Boston-based company, is a farm to market distributor.  They care about their fruits and vegetables, farmers, and responsible and sustainable methods of growing and distributing of their produce to the markets.

The project

Opus Design has been working with WestCoast Fresh since 2015. We began with a branding strategy, logo and website design. This time they asked for our creative design skills to prepare them for their first trade show, Viva Fresh in Austin, Texas.  Viva Fresh Produce Expo is a response to the industries need to network and build relationships.  It highlights the the produce grown in Southwest United States and Mexico.  It attracts growers, shippers, import shippers, specialty shippers, distributors, and material and service providers.

Design challenge and approach

Opus’ approach to the trade show was full service.  WestCoast needed guidance in booth ideas, signage, handouts and the interactive experience of people visiting the booth.  Our creative team started by researching the trade show to see what it looked like last year.  This trade show has an energetic atmosphere which gave us ideas for the look and feel we wanted to go for.

First, we wanted to accomplish brand awareness.  Their logo and tagline, Farm to Market was placed everywhere, on the sign, handouts and takeaways.  Sr Graphic Designer, Emily Knapp, designed a sign (Not sure what to call the big back drop), handouts and booth look and feel.  A lot of organizing and coordinating goes into the details, from the design of handouts to ordering the table cloth and booth layout.

Second, we wanted WestCoast Fresh to be able to attract and interact with the people who approached their booth.  Creative Director, Lily Robles looked for something more energetic and fun than candy or pens for them to give away.  Lily found artist, Amy Brown, owner of Jumbo Jibbles on Etsy who custom makes giant stuffed produce pillows.  The clients loved the idea and wanted two.  We asked Amy to design a giant red pepper and ordered an asparagus to be raffle prizes from business cards collected.  Lily also designed a tattoo, created by Tattly to be handed out at the table.

Creative design

Finally, we showed the client how to fully set-up the booth and display everything.  They were so appreciative of the attention to detail we gave them with this and every project we have done for them.  We really appreciated their time frame.  They came to us with this project 3 months before the trade show. This gave us the time to really be creative and put together a high quality booth for them!  We can’t wait to see pictures from the show.

We had so much fun with this creative design project we just had to get a giant produce pillow too.
