MIT-LGO website design

The client

Leaders for Global Operations, LGO at MIT is a two-year engineering and business program where graduates earn both an MEng and MBA at the same time.  They work with elite international companies who provide amazing real-world experience through research fellowships and career placement. There are 11 program options to receive a  master’s degree in engineering and an MBA.

The project

LGO needed a new web design with a fresh color palette.  With all these changes Opus felt is was important to evolve their existing logo and make it more modern and consistent.  Opus’s Senior Graphic Designer, Emily Knapp led the project.

Design challenge and approach

A good design company asks the right questions to get at the heart of what the project needs.  So the first challenge is always asking the right questions.

The LGO team was looking for a homepage that featured a variety of news in the different program areas to show the exciting things happening in the program. Our designer created a layout that featured the areas prominently and up to 3 related news articles.  The user can switch the program area and display a new set of news items, giving the opportunity to read up to 33 news items right on the homepage. A variety of media can be included with each post.

Another great feature of this web design is the interactive program timeline where students can see what two years in the program will look like in detail. The information is set up in an accordion structure, that allows website users to hide and reveal the information they are interested in.  Check it out here
